Folkestone Invicta sign striker Alfie Paxman from Ramsgate: This is a great opportunity for him to make his mark in the Bostik Premier

FOLKESTONE INVICTA manager Neil Cugley has signed prolific striker Alfie Paxman, 20, from Ramsgate, where he scored 30 goals for the Bostik South outfit last season.

“He’s given us problems on the two or three times he’s played against us and I’ve been keeping a close eye on him for quite some time.  That’s also given him time to develop and I’m delighted that he has agreed to join us,” Cugley told www.folkestoneinvictafc.co.uk.

Folkestone Invicta have paid and small fee for Paxman who has signed for the forthcoming season with the option of a second year.

Cugley, who readily admits that he loves watching entertaining football as much as any fan, said: “He’s an exciting player and I think it’s fair to say that we always try to play that way.”

The young forward has been on the radar of a number of clubs in the south east for maybe four or five season and represents the latest excellent prospect to come out of the Southern Division following midfielders Scott Heard and Sam Hasler who came to Cheriton Road from Whitstable Town and Herne Bay respectively.

“I’ve told him the same as I told Heardy and Hasler when we signed them – this is a great opportunity for him to make his mark in the Bostik Premier,” added Cugley.

“Only three of the squad have not accepted the improved offers that we’ve made them and we should know where we stand on that score by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.”

Invicta finished in fourth-place in the Bostik Premier Division last season, finishing their 46-game campaign on 85 points but lost 4-0 at third-placed finishers Hendon in the Semi-Finals of the play-offs.
