Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley signs winger Kieron McCann from Sevenoaks Town: He’s got plenty of pace and should enjoy playing on our big wide pitch

FOLKESTONE INVICTA manager Neil Cugley has made winger Kieron McCann his second summer signing.

The winger enjoyed an impressive season for Sevenoaks Town, helping Micky Collins’ side finish a personal best of third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division, as well as winning the Macron Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup Final for the first time.

Cugley watched the game at Tonbridge Angels’ Longmead Stadium on 6 May, where goals from Harrison Carnegie and Billy Bennett helped Sevenoaks Town beat Sheppey United 2-0 - and Cugley has given McCann a chance to showcase his talents two levels higher.

“I really liked what I saw from him that day,” Cugley told www.folkestoneinvictafc.co.uk.

“He’s also played for Chatham Town in the Ryman League and I’m looking forward to seeing how well he’ll do with at the higher level.

“He lives up in Medway and can travel down with Ade Yusuff, who we signed a few weeks ago, so hopefully that will work out well.

“He’s got plenty of pace and should enjoy playing on our big wide pitch.

“We are looking for players with experience at the higher levels but we’ve done well with the likes of Harry Smith and Scott Heard who’ve both gone onto bigger things as well as Miles Cornwell and Sam Hasler, who we signed from Division One South clubs last season and both played their part in helping us stay in the Premier Division.”

Cugley revealed he is also hoping to sign a second midfield player that he’s met this week and is due to meet an experienced defender over the weekend as he plans ahead for another Isthmian Premier campaign.

“We should have more news after the weekend.  You can say that I’m fully focused on bringing more players in while we do also expect to see more trialists involved in pre-season than we have had for quite some time.”
