Folkestone Invicta chairman Paul Morgan: Not having a home game in November has drained our finances and we need help to keep our squad together

Monday 18th November 2019

FOLKESTONE INVICTA chairman Paul Morgan says he is looking for friends of the club to contribute towards their wage bill to keep Neil Cugley’s squad together.

Invicta have not played a home game at Cheriton Road this month and have played at Carshalton Athletic, Maldon & Tiptree and Enfield Town and travel to Lewes on Saturday and as a result of playing away from home, money is tight.

“First I want to thank all our supporters and volunteers for their terrific work they do for our club,” Morgan said in a club statement.

“It gives everyone a boost when we get bigger gates, which not only helps our finances but gives everyone a big morale boost.

“You can all see what a great squad Neil Cugley has put together this season, which is reflected in our league position and the exciting football we play.

“But keeping a squad of this quality together, particularly when we have a month like this one, with not a single home game, drains our finances.

“To be able to keep this squad together, we need some help from everyone and for that reason we are asking as many people who can to become a Friend of Folkestone Invicta FC.

“Those who donate will see their name in the programme and on a plaque as we done several years ago.

“Donations will only be used for the playing side. We do not waste a penny and even our players help the club by using their own cars to travel to away games rather than coaches and not one has asked for travelling expenses.

“We only spend the bare minimum on administration as all our officials give their time and skill free.

“I love this club and everything about it and I personally supported the team financially and continue to do so but everything has limits and we need others to join in and help.  Your football club needs you!

Folkestone Invicta’s next home league game is on Tuesday 3 December (19:45), before Horsham visit Cheriton Road on Saturday 7 December (15:00).

Cugley’s men are in second-place in the Isthmian League Premier Division table with 36 points from their 16 games and are one point behind leaders Horsham but with a game in hand.
