Fisk: No-one is happy with our league position (EXCLUSIVE)

Hythe Town manager Paul Fisk has explained the addition of former Ashford Town reserve team management duo, Mike Robbins and Martin Larkin will improve coaching at the Reachfields Stadium club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Fisk, whose side travel to Thamesmead Town tomorrow for a place in the last four of the Kentish Observer League Cup, retains Scott Porter as his assistant, with Robbins coming in as first team coach with Larkin coaching the reserves.

Fisk, meanwhile, welcomes back striker Damien Abel and midfielder Jason Brazier back from suspension for their trip to Bayliss Avenue.

“The move suits both parties, because there’s been a lot of work for me and Scott this season, but with Mike coming in as a coach to take the training sessions and warm-ups, it frees myself up to have a look at things and take a step back instead of taking the training sessions with Scott,” said Fisk.

Fisk revealed there were no other applications for the vacancy, but added: “Mike was looking to move from Ashford Town and we could do with a coach. We need more at our club helping out, more bodies as it were. Martin Larkin’s coming over to coach the reserves. The more people the better.”

The manager, however, is hoping his players show their impressive cup performances for the rest of their Kentish Observer League campaign.

“We’ve done better in cups than the league,” admitted Fisk. “I just hope our cup form continues. We’ve played well in games and lost. It’s about time we played well and won.

“We’ve got people coming back. No-one is happy with our league position that’s myself and the players. We want to finish as high as we can. There are plenty of more games to play.”
