Fisher prepare for judgement day
TROUBLED club Fisher Athletic could be wound up at the Royal Courts of Justice next Wednesday.
The credit crunch has hit the economy hard and non-league football has felt the pinch more than most with a number of clubs on the brink of bankruptcy.
The south London club’s off-the-field problems are well documented and come to a head next Wednesday, 4th March when the club face the prospect of being wound up at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London.
This is due to the club facing a £250,000 bill from the Inland Revenue.
“The board dispute the amount and have hired a QC to fight Fisher’s corner but whether the club are allowed to field a side at Bromley’s Hayes Lane ground on March 7th is rated 50/50 at best,” said a club statement, issued on www.fisherathletic.co.uk.
“Fisher take on Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, for what could be the last ever game for the Fish ahead of their make-or-break day in court.
“The board would like to encourage all supporters to turn out and show their support for the cause,” added the statement.
The club will update their website on a daily basis to ensure fans are kept up to speed on next week’s events.
www.kentishfootball.co.uk wish the club well and hope they continue playing for many years to come.
