They think Fisher are a big club with a big budget - but £300 per week doesn't go as far as we'd like, reveals boss Dean Harrison

Saturday 23rd September 2017

FISHER manager Dean Harrison has revealed the club’s first ever playing budget is just £300 per week.

The Rotherhithe based club suffered relegation from the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division at the end of last season and their 4-2 home defeat to Bridon Ropes on Tuesday night has them in ninth-place in the First Division with 14 points from nine games.

Harrison takes his side to Imperial Fields to play Tooting Bec in The FA Vase Second Qualifying Round this afternoon.

“We’re really looking forward to the trip to Tooting today,” said Harrison.

“The Vase is always a special occasion and another win would be great for the lads and the club.

“Our League form has been a bit inconsistent unfortunately but we’re still only five points off the top and with seven months left of the season we all now life’s a marathon and not a sprint.

“Our seven game unbeaten run came to an end against Bridon on Tuesday night.

“We were missing five key players and Joe Hall’s hat-trick for them being the difference in a game we totally dominated.

“We need to understand that when club’s come to us it’s their Cup Final.  They think that Fisher are a big club with a big budget.

“Let me tell you now that £300 a week doesn’t go as far as we’d like to.  There are players in this league I’d love to have in but can’t get near because of the money they’re on at their present club’s.

“We just cover a bit of expenses and the boys are here for love, not money.”
