Favourite Warrilow lands Tonbridge Angels job

Tuesday 06th November 2007

Tonbridge Angels have unveiled their new management team this morning, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Ryman Premier League club have appointed Tommy Warrilow, 43, as their new manager, and Cliff Cant as his assistant.

Warrilow was most recently assistant manager at Ryman Premier neighbours Horsham and was the favourite to land the job from the moment that Tony Dolby left the club eight days ago.

The Angels welcome former Arsenal professional Cant as his assistant, ahead of Saturday’s vital league home clash with Carshalton Athletic.

A statement issued on www.tonbridgeangels.co.uk by chairman Nick Sullivan, following the announcement at 10am, said: "Tonbridge Angels FC are delighted to announce the appointments of Mr. Tommy Warrilow as the new first team manager and Mr. Cliff Cant as his assistant.

"This has ended a period of uncertainty within the club, and I hope that these appointments will enable the club to achieve their footballing ambitions over the following years.

"Our thanks go Tony Dolby and Mike Rutherford for the successes on the field over the last three years, and to Julian Leigh and Simon Balsdon, who have been in temporary charge for the last two matches."
