Faversham Town unveil ambitious £2.5m redevelopment plans to transform Salters Lane
Wednesday 26th February 2014
FAVERSHAM TOWN will launch their £2.5 million proposed development scheme in front of invited guests’ tomorrow night. The ambitious plan will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of players at Salters Lane, which was wrecked by vandals in 2003 after the club was suspended from football over the non payment of fines.
The club returned to the ground in 2005 after a number of people put in many hours of hard graft and it has since worked it’s way back from the Kent County League Premier to where it stands today.
The Lilywhites were denied promotion to the Ryman Premier League after losing to Maidstone United in the play-off final at the end of last season.
“It will ensure a fantastic match day experience for the supporters and crucially it will create facilities that the whole community can use and be proud off,” said a club statement.
“The club are very grateful for the help from a local business man who has driven this scheme forward and in combination with his designer they have shown great skill, vision and imagination in transforming Salters Lane, making this the most exciting development project at any non-league club in the county.
“From next season more than 25 youth sides will wear the three lions badge.”
The club are presently sitting in sixth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table with 52 points from 32 games and are four points adrift of fifth-placed Hastings United.
“We have a responsibility as does the community to produce the best environment possible for their enjoyment and development,” added first team manager Ray Turner.
“We as a club have overcome many obstacles just to be in existence. We have gone about business and built the club slowly and surely on and off the pitch.
“The ambition is there to be bold, create something special and ask people to back us.
“Thursday will be a special night for all concerned.”
