Faversham Town boss Ray Turner pays tribute to departing striker Luke Harvey

Tuesday 25th November 2014

FAVERSHAM TOWN boss Ray Turner has confirmed striker Luke Harvey will leave the club following this Saturday’s top-four game with Folkestone Invicta.

Harvey, 28, has been the Lilywhites top goal scorer in the past two seasons.

However, the frontman has struggled for form and fitness this season.

He went on dual-registration to play for Southern Counties East Football League side Woodstock Sports in a bid to regain match fitness.

But, the striker has struggled to get back in the starting line-up, such is the wealth of attacking options at Turner’s disposal.

“I would just like to confirm that Luke Harvey will leave us after Saturday’s game against Folkestone,” Turner told www.favershamtownfc.co.uk.

“I would like to pay tribute to the man. Luke has been my leading goal scorer for the last two seasons and has played a major role in one of the club’s most progressive and successful periods.

“He has represented the club in an exemplary manner on and off the pitch, his honesty and integrity set him apart from many players.”

The Faversham manager continued: “It is the worst part of a manager’s job, where decisions ultimately lead to players seeking regular football elsewhere.

“I fully respect his reasons for leaving, as I know he respects my decisions regarding the team and its progression.

“He will be a major asset for his next club and will no doubt cause us problems when we play against him. But, are both happy in the way it has been handled and I would like to finish by wishing him and his family all the best.

“They will be welcome at Faversham anytime.”
