The Salters Lane chairman - whose links with the club go back some 35 years - was the obvious choice to represent the club at the league's annual presentation in Lordswood on Saturday.

And he was thrilled to receive a warm welcome from everyone he spoke to as Faversham Town
look forward to having their promotion from the Kent County League rubber-stamped at the AGM on 21 June.

Chair of the Kent League Denise Richmond told diners that
Faversham Town and Croydon would both be joining for the 2006/2007 season.

Mason said: "I saw many old friends from my playing days while meeting alot of new people too and I have to say that the reaction was all very positive.

"People in the Kent League are pleased to see the club resurrected and back where it belongs. We were congratulated on all the hard work that had gone on both on and off the pitch at Faversham.

"Denise Richmond welcomed both Croydon and ourselves into the league next season. Both clubs will have to wait to be officially voted in at the league AGM next month but I was assured that was just a formality."

Mason said that many people had marvelled at the size of the crowds that Faversham Town had attracted in the county league.

He explained: "People have watched our progress this season and the one thing that has really impressed them is the gates. There are alot of clubs out there who would dearly love the fantastic support we get from our wonderful fan base.

"It was a great night for the football club and now I really can't wait for the new season."
