Friday 14th April 2023

FAVERSHAM STRIKE FORCE will be staying at Salters Lane for the next two years.

Faversham Town were relegated from the Isthmian League following their 1-0 defeat at Hythe Town on Easter Monday but their chairman Gary Smart has confirmed that there will be two club's playing on the soon to be installed artificial pitch at Salters Lane.

“It’s been a seamless process working with Strike Force this season. We had no doubt we would like to keep the partnership going for the foreseeable future,” Mr Smart said in a statement.

“Gary Axford, along with Stuart Benfield and Lee Suter have been so helpful and supportive in working together, they have all been involved and helping in our quest for the 3G pitch installation at Salters Lane.”

Faversham Strike Force’s Gary Axford added: “Everyone at Faversham Strike Force FC is extremely excited about the ground share renewal.

“Our first season at Salters Lane has been fantastic.  Gary Smart and all the board (at Faversham Town) have been brilliant in all aspects.  The relations between the two clubs is stronger than ever and will continue to improve.

“Having local supporters and a great atmosphere has helped massively.”

Bottom-of-the-table Faversham Town complete their league campaign with a trip to fellow relegated outfit Corinthian tomorrow, before a trip to play-off chasing Beckenham Town next Tuesday, before Three Bridges play on the grass surface for the last time on 22 April.

Faversham Strike Force, meanwhile, are in fifth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table and welcome second-from-bottom side Sporting Club Thamesmead tomorrow.

Luke Wallond’s Snodland Town claimed the league title last weekend and have collected 66 points from their 31 of 32 league games.

Tooting Bec (55 points), Larkfield & New Hythe (54), Lydd Town (53) and Faversham Strike Force (51) are in the play-off places.

Rochester United have two fewer points going into the last round of league fixtures.
