Faversham Town scoop £1,500 grant from Football Foundation

Thursday 11th June 2020

FAVERSHAM Town have been awarded a £1,500 Pitch Preparation Fund grant from the Premier League, The FA and the Government’s Football Foundation.

The fund was set up to support the game through the COVID-19 outbreak and provides grants to clubs that have lost out on normal revenue streams during this difficult period.

The grant will help groundsman Lindsay Burden prepare the stadium pitch so that it is match-fit for the new 2020/21 season, once the Isthmian League announce a date.

It will help towards the cost of materials, verti-draining, chain harrowing, rolling, over-seeding, fertilising, weed-killing and routine preparatory.

Chairman Paul Bennett told the club website: “We’re very grateful to the Football Foundation for the funding. The players will be working hard to get match fit and this will help ensure the pitch is too.”

Supporters of the Isthmian League South East Division outfit are also helping the club to prepare for the new season by making donations.

The online appeal has so far raised £1,615 of a £5,000 target – helping to offset the devastating financial impact of the coronavirus lockdown on income.
