Faversham Town suspend training and cancel trip to Chatham Town due to Covid case within the first-team group
FAVERSHAM TOWN have taken the decision to cancel their pre-season friendly at Chatham Town on Saturday due to a case of Covid-19 within the first-team group.
The Isthmian League South East Division outfit were due to play a warm-up game at the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division big-hitters but plans have been put on hold.
“Due to a case of Covid within the first-team group, Faversham have taken the decision to cancel the game and suspend training,” said a club statement.
“We have taken all the necessary precautions and gone beyond Government guidelines.
“We have taken this decision out of an abundance of caution and respect to Chatham Town’s players and staff.”
Meanwhile, last night’s warm-up game between Sevenoaks Town and Cray Wanderers was also cancelled for the same reason.
Sevenoaks Town's chairman Paul Lansdale said the game was called off, "due to a player testing positive for Covid-19 and having been in contact with the whole squad.
"All online ticket purchases will be refunded and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience."
