FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW: WELLING UNITED HANDED HOME TIE AGAINST LUTON TOWN

Sunday 27th October 2013

The FA Cup First Round Draw was made in central London this lunchtime.

Welling United and Gillingham have been handed home ties, whilst Dover Athletic and the winner of Tuesday night’s replay between Dartford and Ebbsfleet United must travel.

Dover Athletic progressed through to the First Round after beating Oxford City 3-0 at Crabble.

Goals from Nathan Elder, Barry Cogan and Sean Raggett helped Chris Kinnear’s side beat the Conference North outfit.

Dover Athletic have been drawn away to Southern Premier League side Corby Town, who won 3-1 at Colwyn Bay in yesterday’s Forth Qualifying Round.

Corby Town are presently in the bottom five in the table, with 11 points from ten games.

Welling United came away from Western League outfit Brislington with a 1-0 win in Bristol, courtesy of Lee Clarke’s header in the final 22 minutes.

Jamie Day’s side have been handed a home tie against their Conference Premier rivals Luton Town.

The Hatters are the first non-league side to knock a Premier League club out of The FA Cup after they defeated Norwich City 1-0 in the Fourth Round last season at Carrow Road, before their run ended with a 3-0 home defeat to Millwall in the Fifth Round.

Luton Town came away from Woking with a 1-0 win yesterday.

Luton Town are presently in third-place in The Skill Premier with 30 points from 16 games.

Welling United, meanwhile, are in ninth-place in the table, with 25 points from 16 games.

Ebbsfleet United and Dartford shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in front of 2,895 fans at Stonebridge Road yesterday.

Lee Noble gave the Darts the lead before The Fleet earnt a second bite of the cherry when Anthony Cook equalised for Steve Brown’s men.

The winners will travel to Conference Premier side Salisbury City, who came away from Bath City with a 1-0 win yesterday.

Salisbury City, who defeated Dover Athletic in last season’s Conference South play-off final, are presently in the top six in The Skrill Premier with 27 points from 16 games.

Gillingham begin their FA Cup campaign in the First Round because League One and League Two clubs are exempt to this stage.

The Gills have been drawn at home to the winner of Brackley Town or Barrow, who played out a goal-less draw yesterday.

Brackley Town are in fifth-place in The Skrill North, whilst Barrow are in the bottom six in the same division.

Chatham Town went out to St Albans City, in front of 849 fans at Maidstone Road.

John Frendo scored his fifteenth goal of the season to give the Southern Premier League side the lead on the stroke of half-time, before David Keenleyside scored a second within three minutes into the second half.

St Albans City have been drawn at home to Mansfield Town, who are in eleventh-place in League Two.

Ties to be played on the weekend of 9 and 10 November 2013.
