FA Carlsberg Trophy Third Qualifying Round Draw
The Football Association announced the third qualifying round draw of the FA Carlsberg Trophy this morning, as clubs in the Blue Square South enter the competition.
The draw involving Kent sides:
Bromley v Chippenham Town
Abingdon United or Maidstone United v Canvey Island
Fisher Athletic v Leamington or Margate
Tonbridge Angels v Burnham
Wealdstone v Welling United
Dover Athletic v Sutton United
Ties to be played on Saturday, 24th November 2007
Margate boss Robin Trott was pleased that his side came back from Warwickshire with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
If Margate win Tuesday night’s replay against Leamington, currently top of the British Gas Business Midlands Division, then they will travel to Blue Square South side Fisher Athletic for the second time this season, in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy.
Margate had knocked the Fish out of the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage.
But Trott, speaking to the club website at www.margate-fc.com , knows Leamington will not be a pushover at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday night.
“This team, they’ve got a bit about them,” he said. “They’ve got a lot of cultured players.”
Maidstone United can earn themselves a home tie against former winners Canvey Island, if they dispose of Abingdon United in Wednesday night’s replay at Bourne Park.
Blue Square South sides Bromley and Welling United start their FA Trophy campaigns against Chippenham Town and Wealdstone respectively.
Tonbridge Angels, who are expected to name their new manager tomorrow, welcome Burnham, whilst Dover Athletic will be confident of beating Blue Square South strugglers Sutton United.
Meanwhile, Ebbsfleet United start their Trophy campaign in the first round proper.
