These are the games that everyone wants to be involved in, says Erith Town joint-manager Joe Ford

ERITH TOWN joint-manager Joe Ford says he is searching for a reaction from his players during tomorrow’s historic game at Ashford United.

The hosts will be playing their first Southern Counties East Football League fixture on their new 3G pitch at Homelands Stadium and Ford is relishing the game.

Ashford United sit in fourth-place in the table with 12 points from six games, while The Dockers go into the game sitting in sixth-place with the same statistics.

“We are very much looking forward to visiting Ashford tomorrow and playing against one of the title favourites,” said Ford.

“These are the games that everyone wants to be involved in and after Tuesday’s defeat to Erith & Belvedere we are looking for a reaction from the lads and want to put on a good performance in front of what will no doubt be a big crowd for their first team’s first game on the 3G pitch.

“It’s certainly a very tough test for us and we are under no illusions about that but as a management team it’s certainly going to give us an idea of how far we’ve come along since last season.

“It’s a great stage once again for our young lads and another chance to show people what they can do

“It’s a 3G surface so it will allow both sides to play and we are all looking forward to a tough encounter.

“They will be up for it, so will we and I’m sure it will be a decent game for everyone involved.”
