Erith & Belvedere boss Matt Longhurst: We are still very much a work in progress, but it’s an enjoyable ride we have been on over our 14 months in charge, even if this year has been a bit of a roller coaster so far

Friday 25th September 2015

ERITH & BELVEDERE manager Matt Longhurst says his side are itching to get back on the pitch at Fisher tomorrow.

The Deres are sitting in sixth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table on 15 points from nine games and travel to Champion Hill Stadium full of beans.

Dean Harrison, meanwhile, has guided The Fish to 12th place in the table with 11 points from their eight league outings.

“A good week really beating Erith Town and Hollands & Blair, the top two at the moment and in my opinion deservedly so,” said Longhurst.

“But we are still very much a work in progress, but it’s an enjoyable ride we have been on over our 14 months in charge, even if this year has been a bit of a roller coaster so far.

“We must find some consistency in our results. Performance wise we have been ok for five or six games now. We need to get more points on the board.

“Tomorrow’s game is another tough one. Dean’s a manager I have lots of respect for with his input at Beckenham in the double cup winning side and the job he’s doing at Fisher now it’s no surprise they are a difficult team to play against.

“They have some excellent players going forward and experience at the back so I’m sure it’ll be a decent game.

“We have a couple of players making their way back from injury so hopefully we can include them as we look to get three points.

“One thing is for sure both teams will play good football on a fantastic pitch.  With Tuesday night being called off at Corinthian, the players are itching to get back out there and play!”
