Erith & Belvedere boss John Wilfort: We are in a good place at the moment and the aim is to move up the table and keep winning and entertaining

Friday 04th December 2015

ERITH & BELVEDERE manager John Wilfort says he is looking forward to an interesting league game at Corinthian tomorrow.

The Deres are sitting in eighth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table on 22 points from 16 games, while Corinthian go into the Gay Dawn Farm clash sitting in fifth-place on 26 points from 15 league outing.

Former Holmesdale manager Wilfort has been in charge of eight games at Park View Road, winning three, drawing a couple and going down to three defeats.

Last weekend, the Deres beat AFC Croydon Athletic 3-1 at Park View Road.

Wilfort said: “We didn’t get out the blocks quick enough and our passing wasn’t aggressive enough in certain areas, therefore allowing them to get their noses in front.

“But my players showed great character to come back and then get in front and control the game for big periods which was very pleasing.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game on a pristine playing surface at Corinthian, Wilfort added: “We are in a good place at the moment and the aim is to move up the table and keep winning and entertaining.

“Well Saturday’s game for me is a good tester for both teams that is as we will get to understand more about each other as we will meet again in the cup in the New Year.

“I know how they play and respect the style of football they play, so for me it should be a very interesting and entertaining game.

“They have had a couple of good results so I’m sure they will be fired up for it.

“I have added a few new additions to the squad and myself and JP (John-Paul Collier) continue to work hard with this talented squad who are beginning to mould very well.”
