I probably made substitutions at the wrong time and for the wrong personnel, admits Erith & Belvedere boss Danny Murphy
ERITH & BELVEDERE joint-manager Danny Murphy says he takes the blame for his side’s 2-2 home draw against Crowborough Athletic last weekend.
Nathan Palmer gave the home side the lead, before Sean Muggeridge’s side equalised through Jacob Lambert before the Deres’ regained the lead through Luke Rooney but Lambert grabbed a last minute equaliser at Park View Road.
“We dominated possession, limited the opposition to very few chances,” reflected Murphy.
“As a coach or manager I probably made substitutions at the wrong time and for the wrong personnel.
“We felt comfortable in the game and I felt we could rest a few who have been carrying injuries or just come back from them.
“It’s a massive lesson learnt and something I will take ownership of myself.”
Erith & Belvedere are in fifth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having collected 50 points from their 28 games and have 10 league games remaining.
Murphy takes his side to bottom-of-the-table Lordswood tomorrow.
Richard Dimmock’s first six games in charge ended in defeat but he picked up his first point in a 1-1 draw at Hollands & Blair in midweek.
Murphy added: “We have another big game tomorrow and it doesn’t matter where the teams sit in the league, we need to turn up with the right attitude to get three points.”
