Saturday 07th May 2022

ERITH & BELVEDERE have appointed Tony Beckingham as their new manager.

The Park View Road outfit announced last night that Beckingham will be assisted by Andy Constable and Tony Cornwell.

Erith & Belvedere parted company with joint-managers Danny Murphy and Marlon Patterson immediately after their 10-1 thrashing at Chatham Town on Saturday 9 April.

The club appointed senior player, Luke Rooney, 31, in interim charge and he presided over their games against Erith Town (2-3), Holmesdale (1-1) and Rusthall (4-4) as Erith & Belvedere completed their campaign in sixth-place.

Rooney was appointed Glebe’s new manager on 25 April.

Beckingham and Cornwell were together at Isthmian League South East Division side East Grinstead Town during the 2021-22 season.

The Wasps were third-from-bottom in the table when the club appointed Drew Cooney and Beckingham as joint-managers on 11 November.

Beckingham, Cornwell and Simon Kidby all left the College Lane club on Sunday 6 February.

“Honoured to be on board at such a great club and we will do our very best to emulate the achievements of some very good managers that have gone before,” said Beckingham.

Constable, 43, scored his 400th career goal while playing for Bromley-based league rivals Holmesdale as Lee Roots' side finished the campaign in 12th place.

Striker Constable helped manager Micky Collins guide Erith & Belvedere to the Kent League and League Cup double during the 2012-13 season.

The 2022-23 Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division campaign kicks off on Saturday 30 July 2022.
