The management team at Tower Hamlets have done a great job in the last few games and churning out results and we will not take them lightly, says Erith & Belvedere joint-manager Marlon Patterson

Sunday 02nd January 2022

ERITH & BELVEDERE joint-manager Marlon Patterson says his side will not take Tower Hamlets lightly at Park View Road tomorrow.

Jointly-managed by Patterson and Danny Murphy, the Deres are sitting in fifth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 39 points at the halfway stage.

Since suffering a 10-0 humiliation at home to Chatham Town on 4 December, Tower Hamlets have beaten Erith Town 2-1 in the Challenge Cup, drew 1-1 at home to Canterbury City, lost 4-1 at Welling Town and beat Erith Town 3-2 at home on 27 December.

As a result they have picked up nine points from 22 games and are now second-from-bottom in the table, leapfrogging over Lordswood, who have nine points from 20 games.

Richard Dimmock takes charge of Lordswood for the first time tomorrow at ninth-placed Tunbridge Wells, after taking over from Neil Hunter, who resigned on 16 December 2021.

“Going into the Bank Holiday game against Tower Hamlets, it will be just as tough as any other game for us. We will attack this as a cup final,” said Patterson.

“Due to inconsistency of training due to Covid, this game in particular we will need to be more focused.

“The management team at Tower Hamlets have done a great job in the last few games and churning out results and we will not take them lightly.

“Danny Murphy and I are overwhelmed at the response we’ve had from other mangers in the league and we are grateful.

“However, we will always want more and to do better.  We just want to do our best and try to overcome any team that is put in front of us.

“Hopefully we can chalk up another win on Monday and visit whose next with the same attitude.”
