Darren Anslow's tenure at Epsom & Ewell lasts only 16 days as chairman wanted to pick the team

DARREN ANSLOW has left his managerial role at Epsom & Ewell after only 16 days in charge of the club.

The former Lordswood manager was appointed manager of the Southern Combination First Division club on Thursday 23 September, but the club announced that he left before yesterday’s game.

“Darren Anslow has left the club. A further statement will be published in due course,” said the club.

“We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Darren from everyone at the club and wish him all the very best in the future.”

Anslow took charge of two games, Epsom & Ewell’s 4-0 home win over Mile Oak in The FA Vase Second Qualifying Round on 25 September and a 4-3 league defeat away to Billingshurst seven days later.

Anslow said on Twitter: "Not much to say, as there are some really good people at the club. However, I will never compromise my beliefs or values."

Anslow suggested in his Tweet posted yesterday that the chairman wanted to pick the team instead of him, using the hashtag managerspickteamsnotthecm.

Epsom & Ewell won 3-0 at Worthing United yesterday, a result that puts them in fifth-place in the league table with six wins and two draws from their 11 league games.

Meanwhile, Epsom & Ewell's landlords, Leatherhead, have yesterday announced the departure of their manager, Nikki Bull after three seasons in charge of the Isthmian League Premier Division club.
