There's no underestimating the task at Ebbsfleet, says new manager Daryl McMahon
EBBSFLEET UNITED are pleased to announce that 31-year-old Daryl McMahon has been appointed as first-team manager on a two-year contract.
Vice chairman Peter Varney told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk: “It is essential that going forward we bring some stability to the club after the disappointment of last season. Daryl is a very bright young coach and a good man manager and has shown his management ability in the four matches he was in charge last season.
“We won both league matches 4-0 and gave our best two performances of the season. We won and drew the other two FA Trophy matches. Daryl knows the squad and has put forward a plan to the board to hopefully make us a real force in the Vanarama National League South next season.
“We did consider other candidates but Daryl has the advantage over others of not needing several months to assess the playing squad and then proposing wholesale changes as happened under the previous manager.”
The club has also announced there will be a pre-season training camp for the management and playing squad in Portugal in July.
McMahon is keen to shape his squad as soon as possible this close season and is determined to bring success through stability at Stonebridge Road.
McMahon told the club’s website: “Stability is the key. There have been too many changes in the season just gone and so we need to gather the players we know and add to that in the areas we’ve identified without making a wholesale overhaul again.
“I’ve played with most of the players at the club so I can come in and know our strengths from the start and where that little bit of quality is required.
“I’m really, really looking forward to the challenge and I can’t wait to get it started.
“I’ve been coaching for a while. I’ve done it here in the Academy and as caretaker, at other clubs like Dagenham and the Tottenham academy and also at Boreham Wood I was assistant manager so I know what it takes, what’s involved and that there’s no underestimating the task.
“This is an exciting role and I’ll give it my all to bring success to the club and the supporters.”
