It’s been a fantastic year for me personally and we all desperately want to deliver on 2015 by doing the business in 2016, says Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon
EBBSFLEET UNITED manager Daryl McMahon has set his sights on leading the club back into the Vanarama National League at the end of the season.
The Fleet are sitting at the top of the Vanarama National League South going into the New Year, ten points clear of second-placed Maidstone United.
McMahon told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk: “Things change so fast. It’s been a mad year for me from when I first took over from Steve (Brown) as caretaker, the game v Hendon. I know that was 2014 but it was part of that same last season. Then I had my daughter the next day!
“It was strange, going from Fleet captain last January to Boreham Wood player, then back here as Fleet manager and then manager in May.
“It’s been a crazy year, but a great one, too.
“I’m on a fantastic learning curve and to be able to get into Christmas and be seven points clear and a game in hand, then come out of it 10 points to the good, is something I wouldn’t have believed.
“Obviously you aim to do that when you sit down and plan in the close season, but you never know how it’s going to go.”
McMahon’s record, including his stints as caretaker, has seen him preside over 32 games in all competitions, winning 22 of those and scoring 63 goals in the process.
He also won the Vanarama National League South manager-of-the-month award for September.
“I’m really looking forward to 2016,” added McMahon.
“I’ve only been a manager for five months and over that time had great support from the board and Peter Varney and we have a great staff as well who have immense experience.
“But it’s been a fantastic year for me personally and we all desperately want to deliver on 2015 by doing the business in 2016.”
Ebbsfleet United travel to Concord Rangers on Saturday, 3pm.
