Ebbsfleet International appoint German Christopher Franks as first-team coach

EBBSFLEET UNITED manager Dennis Kutrieb has appointed fellow German Christopher Franks as his first-team coach.

Franks is well known to the Fleet manager having worked with him at Tennis Bourussia Berlin last season where he also trained their under 19s.

Previously assistant manager with TSV Rudow in the Berlin-Liga, Franks has also worked for the Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB, the German football association) for many years, most notably during the 2006 World Cup in his home country when he was part of the national side’s backroom and scouting staff as they finished third place overall in the tournament.

“He’s a very good guy and the right character,” Kutrieb told the Ebbsfleet United website.

“He helps with scouting and he helps on the pitch because he sees lots of things. He’s the right man for our staff, him and me we are tight together. He’s not the loudest character but everything he says is important.”

A club statement added: “Recent seasons have seen a number of contractors who provided coaching, medical and performance assistance to the managers and players in their day-to-day schedule.

“Franks’ appointment, following on from Lee Taylor’s arrival as head of performance, reflects the club’s philosophy for small, tight-knit and efficient full-time professional staff solely committed and focused to the club and players’ preparation, growth and well-being.”

The Fleet will be playing Vanarama National League South football in October after losing their top-flight status last season.
