Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose hails the arrival of Bromley favourite Danny Waldren

DULWICH HAMLET boss Gavin Rose has pulled off a transfer coup with the arrival of Bromley fans’ favourite Danny Waldren.

Bermondsey based versatile midfielder Waldren, 26, put pen to paper on a contract with the Ryman Premier League club after not being retained by last season’s Vanarama Conference South champions.

Bromley boss Mark Goldberg has decided to train his first team squad three mornings per week for the club’s inaugural Vanarama National League campaign to adapt to their new surroundings.

Rose has acted swiftly to bring Waldren, who was not part of Goldberg’s current eighteen-man contracted squad at Hayes Lane, to Champion Hill.

“Danny is from Bermondsey and we always try and get boys who are local so they build up an affinity,” Roseld The South London Press, before being replicated on the club's website.

“Bromley really appreciated him – they love him as a player and as a person.  They were dubious how many games he would start and didn’t want to make him travel and maybe not guarantee playing a certain amount of games.”

Waldren, who made 188 appearances for the Ravens, was popular with team-mates and supporters for his commitment and loyalty to the club.

Bromley skipper Rob Swaine tweeted: “Today Bromley loses a legend in Danny Waldren.  Top guy who gives 100% in every game. All good things come to an end.”

Waldren is joined at Dulwich Hamlet by another former Bromley player, much-travelled striker Jacob Erskine, 26, who finished last season at Conference South side Maidenhead United.

Rose has now made three summer signings, following the arrival of defender Mitchell Nelson, following his release from promoted Margate.

The club has announced that Terrell Forbes (Hemel Hempstead Town); Luke Wanadio (Staines Town); Kershaney Samuels (Merstham) and Xavier Vidal (Welling United) have left Champion Hill.

Rose has, however, tied down winger Nyren Clunis and central defender Ethan Pinnock to new one-year contracts to stay at the club.

Pinnock, who swept the board at the player-of-the-year awards, winning players’, manager’s and supporters’ trophies, played every minute of every league game last season, a feat unequalled at the club in modern memory.

Dulwich Hamlet finished their campaign in fourth-place in the Ryman Premier League table last season, but their promotion hopes were dashed in a 2-1 defeat at Margate in a high-quality play-off semi-final at Hartsdown Park on Thursday, 14 May 2015.
