Dryden: We are more than capable of winning league

Monday 30th January 2006
James Dryden is hoping for positive news when he has a scan on his knee this Wednesday, writes Justin Allen – www.doverathletic.com

The Dover Athletic striker, who got injured in a freak accident while on a ski-ing trip, insists he is in no pain but his knee feels loose.

He said: "I'm hoping that the news will be good. It's not as though I feel any pain when I put pressure on it but it's definitely loose, so it's important to get specialists to take a look and tell me what it is.

"It's so frustrating because I want to be in the team, helping Dover Athletic to promotion. I'm so gutted because in all the time I was at Folkestone I never suffered any kind of serious injury.

"Then, with such bad luck for Dover and I, this happens to me now. But hopefully I'll get some good news and will be back in a couple of weeks. Certainly I accept that I'll be out for at least another two weeks - and hopefully that'll be it and I can get on playing football."

Jimmy says that the return of Craig Cloke and Daniel Braithwaite has been such a boost for the club - and is keeping his fingers crossed that he will add further strength to a very strong team at this level.

He said: "The club have had such bad luck with injuries. I'm just the latest of a number of setbacks Dover have suffered this season. But, touch wood, with Craig and Braz back in the side and a win under our belts against Bashley, things are starting to look up.

"We can certainly still win this division. It's a case of getting on a winning run now and we're more than capable of that."
