Dover remove Staines from title race
DOVER ATHLETIC extended their lead at the top of the Ryman Premier League to 23 points with a 2-1 win over Billericay Town last night.
James Rogers gave the Whites the lead just after the break, with Laurence Ball grabbing the winner after the visitors had equalised.
Dover Athletic boss Andy Hessenthaler, speaking to BBC Radio Kent, said, "I think everyone turns up here expecting us to win because of the run we're on.
"It's not going to be like that, they made it very difficult for us."
Hessenthaler continued: "We played some good stuff and some frustrating stuff at times.
"All in all another good night's work. Another win - 12 out of 12 at home - 66 points, 23 clear."
Dover lead the league from Staines Town, who are second, having played five games less.
"We've won our games now. Obviously Staines have five games in hand but they've actually got to go and win them," said Hessenthaler.
"I hope it is demoralising, anything that can demoralise a side chasing you is great. We can't worry about anyone else but ourselves.
"We have got a few injury problems but it just shows we can still go out there and perform."
