Dover expect over 500 fans to attend title decider

Wednesday 27th February 2008

JIM PARMENTER has confirmed that Dover Athletic will be taking six coach-loads of fans to Tooting & Mitcham United on Saturday, writes Justin Allen.

Fans are travelling free to the top-of-the-table Ryman League Division One South clash in South London after the Whites chairman pledged to pay for anyone who wishes to make the game.

He told www.doverathletic.com: "We are confident there will be around 500 to 600 Dover fans at Tooting to cheer Andy Hessenthaler's team on.

"It's going to be a vital match. A victory will take us 13 points clear and nearer to our target of winning the Ryman One title - and our first championship for 15 years.

"The title race is far from over despite our lead and we hope everyone gets behind the team at the weekend."

Andy Hessenthaler is delighted a large army will be travelling to Tooting.

He said: "There's no doubt that the large support will help us. It will also create a much better atmosphere.

"But we're under no illusions that the large support can equally help Tooting. It will create a cup final atmosphere and all players love to perform in front of a big crowd.

"The huge support from Dover can only benefit this team and it'll be superb for the players to see a big turnout of our own supporters.

"I'm looking at it as just another game. If we win, the title is still not won - and if we lose the title is not lost. It's a league game with three points at stake and we're hoping to get them."
