Dover Athletic chairman offers boss Martin Hayes a new contract

Friday 11th March 2011
DOVER ATHLETIC have agreed a new one-year deal with manager Martin Hayes for next season, writes Justin Allen.

The fine details of the contract will be ironed out once the club know what division they will be playing in - but Hayes will be offered an extension to his current agreement.

In a statement, issued to www.doverathletic.com, chairman Jim Parmenter, said: “We are happy with the job Martin has done this season. He took over in the summer in difficult circumstances after Andy Hessenthaler left and what then happened with Ian Hendon.

“The club reached the third round of the FA Cup in a memorable run that will forever be remembered. Martin did a great job there - and we're still very much competing for promotion.

"I've faith in Martin and that's why we've offered him a new contract."

Hayes guided the Crabble club to the third round of The FA Cup for the very first time in the club‘s history, going out at League One high-flyers Huddersfield Town, after pulling off two giant-killing acts, beating League Two sides Gillingham and Aldershot Town.

Dover, who travel to Maidenhead United tomorrow, are presently sitting in eighth place in the Blue Square Bet South table with 50 points from 29 games, four points behind fifth-placed Chelmsford City, with thirteen games remaining.
