Dover Athletic: Fifteen out of contract players leave the club this summer as club reverts to part-ime status next season
DOVER ATHLETIC manager Andy Hessenthaler has revealed that 15 out-of-contract players will be leaving the club this summer.
The National League club have announced that Yusif Mersin, Josh Passley, Will De Havilland, Jack Munns, Kurtis Cumberbatch, Paul Rooney, Joe Bedford, Oscar Gobern, Steven Rigg, Bilel Hinchiri, Ahkeem Rose, Omar Mussa, Marvel Expiteta, Louis Collins and Ade Azeez will be leaving Crabble.
However, former Bromley left-back Sam Wood, 34, and former Leatherhead attacker, Travis Gregory, 26, are out of contract but have been offered new deals.
The club has exercised an option to extend the contracts for Folkestone born goalkeeper Josh Bexon, 22, Dartford born midfielder TJ Bramble, 19, and Academy grown striker, Marshall Wratten, 21, who has enjoyed a successful loan spell with Isthmian League South East Division side Whitstable Town.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank each and every one of the players leaving the club for their efforts in what was an unprecedented season,” Hessenthaler told the club website.
“I cannot speak highly enough of their attitudes and their commitment during what was an extremely difficult time for us as a club.
“It is never an easy time for any manager, informing players they are being let go – it’s tough, but my job is to make these decisions however hard they might be.”
Hessenthaler, who played for and managed Gillingham in the Football League, has revealed that the club will revert to part-time status next season.
