Dover Athletic appoint former Welling United manager Loui Fazakerley as fitness coach

Monday 08th February 2016

DOVER ATHLETIC have moved to strengthen the backroom setup with the appointment of former Welling United manager Loui Fazakerley as a fitness coach.

Fazakerley, 31, made over 200 appearances for Welling United after joining the club in 2008.

He was axed as The Wings manager - along with coaches Paul Barnes and Matt McEntegart - on 25 January after ten months in charge at Park View Road.

Fazakerley was keen to get straight back into football and has now been recruited as part of Chris Kinnear’s backroom staff, as a coach – with a main focus on fitness.

Fazakerley told www.doverathletic.com: “I am very happy to join Dover as fitness coach as it keeps me involved in the game at the same level, albeit in a different role.

“I had heard some great things about the club from players I know at the club and have been impressed with everything since coming in last week.

“I can see why the team is doing so well this season as Chris and Jake (Leberl) have put together a great group of lads. Everyone seems to get on well and they all work their socks off. There’s a great atmosphere around the place too. That’s always the foundation of a successful team.

“Whilst not a lot needs changing, with my background in sports performance I really think I can come in and make some improvements to the physical performance of the players.

“Hopefully that can help the team out in the end of the season play-off push.”

Dover Athletic’s trip to their Vanarama National League rivals Guiseley tomorrow in The FA Trophy Third Round Replay has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.  The game has been re-arranged for Tuesday 16 February 2016.

Welling United’s league visit to Dover Athletic, which was scheduled for tomorrow night, was postponed to make way for the FA Trophy Replay.
