Dover Athletic defender Sean Raggett signs for rivals Lincoln City
LINCOLN CITY have unveiled the signing of England C defender Sean Raggett from their Vanarama National League rivals Dover Athletic.
Lincoln City have said that they have fought off interest from clubs from the English Football League, Scottish Premier League and The National League to sign the 22-year-old, who has signed a two-year contract.
Raggett started his career as a youngster with Gillingham before joining Dover Athletic as a 16-year-old and went on to become a first team regular at Crabble, going on to make over 150 first team appearances.
Having also gained experience during a loan spell at Whitstable Town, Raggett was part of the Dover Athletic squad that secured promotion to the top flight of non-League football in 2013/14 and he followed this up last season as the Whites reached the semi-finals of the Vanarama National League play-offs.
"The opportunity to make the transition into full-time football under an ambitious young manager (Danny Cowley) and at a club with such a rich history was too good to turn down,” Raggett told www.redimps.co.uk.
"Whilst I appreciate what everyone at Dover has done for me I felt it was time for me to come out of my comfort zone and test myself in a new system with new players and new management. I can't wait to get started."
As Raggett is under the age of 24 Dover Athletic are entitled to a compensation fee for their role in his development.
