Dolby looks forward to returning to football
Tony Dolby hasn’t ruled out the prospect of playing again, whilst he waits for his next managerial job, writes Stephen McCartney.
Dolby, who was sacked as manager of Ryman Premier League side Tonbridge Angels 33-days ago, has been around watching all levels of football in Kent since his departure from the Betterview Longmead Stadium.
Dolby was on the airways today, summarising for BBC Radio Kent alongside Mike Green, as Dartford outclassed Enfield Town 6-1 at Princes Park as Tony Burman’s side cemented their place at the top of the Ryman League Division One North table, against a side that started the game in fourth place.
And the 33-year-old has also taken in Millwall’s reserves, Ebbsfleet United and Welling United, as he awaits for a playing or managing role.
“I’ve watched a hell of a lot of football to be honest,” he told www.kentishfootball.co.uk after Darts stunning display.
But Dolby cannot wait to get back into football, although he enjoyed his time in the press box at Princes Park today.
“Had a couple of very nice offers from a few people," he said. "It’s not quite been right for me personally so I haven’t taken them up on that and watching a hell of a lot of football.
“Been down here (Princes Park) a couple of times, been to Welling a couple of times, watched Ebbsfleet in the Conference.
“Different games and different levels and seeing what’s out there because you only get wrapped up in the Ryman Premier when you’re a manager there.
“You don’t rarely get to see much else apart from that but it’s been interesting to see a level above, a level below and two levels above.
“Been to watch Millwall reserves as well against Brighton, another different style of game.
“Very much enjoyed what I’ve been doing for the last few weeks.”
During his time at Tonbridge Angels, Dolby suffered relegation from the Ryman Premier League, promotion at the first attempt via the play-off’s, two appearances in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup and runners-up in the Kent Senior Cup.
And Dolby is a versatile player with a deadly left-foot, especailly from set-pieces and I'm sure would listen to all offers.
