Delighted Bridon Ropes chairman unveils Gary Lisney as their new boss

Saturday 31st May 2014
BRIDON ROPES chairman Clive Smith says he is delighted to unveil former Fisher boss Gary Lisney as the club’s new manager.

Lisney has replaced Daniel Frost, who has formed part of Paul Gross’ management team at Southern Counties East Football League side Cray Valley.

Frost guided the club to eighth-place in the Kent Invicta League table and were successful in winning the London Senior Trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

The Charlton-based outfit defeated Ryman League Division One South side Corinthian-Casuals 2-1 (after extra time) in April to land the silverware for the first time.

Lisney will be assisted by Kris Hollidge, who played under Lisney at Kent League side Fisher, and was with Ropes’ last season.

Former Whitstable Town and Lordswood striker Mark Murison has come in to manage Bridon Ropes’ under 21 side.

Lisney was in charge of Fisher for their first two seasons in the Kent League between June 2009 and May 2011.

The club finished in thirteenth-place (bottom four) in their first season in the league in 2009-10, before finishing at the foot of the table in Lisney’s second and last season in charge.

He took charge of Fisher for 60 league games, winning 15 games in total, in difficult circumstances, without a budget or ground to call their own.

But Mr Smith is delighted to have appointed Lisney as the club’s new boss.

He said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Gary Lisney as first team manager after the departure of Danny Frost to Cray Valley.

“We had a fantastic response from potential candidates after we advertised the post and we spent the best part of last week interviewing a really good selection of likely replacements.

“We have been doubly lucky to retain the services of Kris Hollidge, as first team coach, who joined us last year.

“We have also been extremely lucky to have brought in Mark Murison, ex Whitstable and Lordswood striker as our new under 21 manager.

“I am sure the new structure we have put in place will coincide nicely with the ground improvements currently taking place at Meridian Sports & Social Club.

“We are now in the position to start preparing for the coming season with some excitement.

“Pre-season begins on Wednesday 18 June and we are actively looking to recruit players for all positions for both squads.”
