Defender Lloyd has "no common courtesy", fumes Seager

Thursday 08th May 2008

ANGRY Whitstable Town boss Marc Seager has criticised Stephen Lloyd after the defender walked out of the Ryman League Division One South club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Seager had signed Lloyd before the start of the season from neighbouring Herne Bay, giving the player his first stab of Ryman League football.

But Lloyd has turned his back on Seager and has opted for a move to their Ryman Premier League neighbours Ramsgate - without telling the Whitstable boss.

The situation has left Seager fuming and he explained the situation on the club’s website www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.

He said: “I Heard a whisper that he’d been speaking to Ramsgate, despite numerous attempts to contact Steve he would not return my calls so I phoned Jim Ward, who confirmed he signed Lloyd.

“I have no problem with Ramsgate or with Jim, what has really upset me is the way the lad did not have the common courtesy to inform me first and I was less than happy to find out the way I did.

“All my players know the way I work; I am very honest with my dealings with them but I expect them to be the same with me.

“This is not the way this has happened in this instance.

“If any Whitstable Town players are offered the chance to step up to the next level, I would never stand in their way and they all know they go with mine and the club’s blessing.

“I am not disappointed that Lloyd has left the club to play football in a higher league, but I am both disappointed and angry that I found out through a third party and not the player himself.

“The way that Steve has conducted himself, especially after being given the chance to play Ryman League football at the Belmont, I believe shows a total lack of respect to myself and more importantly Whitstable Town Football Club.”
