Dean Pooley will make an excellent addition to our squad, says Fleet boss Steve Brown

Thursday 18th September 2014
EBBSFLEET UNITED have re-signed defender Dean Pooley.

The 28-year-old was part of the Bromley side that finished in third-place in the Conference South last season – and played against the Fleet in the play-off semi-finals.

Manager Steve Brown had no hesitation in adding the versatile player when he became available.

“Dean is a very experienced player who will make an excellent addition to our squad and increase the competition for place,” Brown told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk.

Pooley, who has also played for Margate in recent years and this season turned out for Cray Wanderers and Maidstone United while deciding on his options.

He first signed for the Fleet in 2008 and played in the Conference Premier, before helping the club to win promotion via the Conference South play-offs in 2010. In his first spell, he played almost 80 times for the Fleet.

The Fleet, which included Pooley, lost their grip on the Kent Reliance Cup when they went down to a 2-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic’s under 21’s at Stonebridge Road last night.

Charlton’s England under 17 striker Karlan Ahearne-Grant scored both goals as Jason Euell’s side won the Second Round tie.

Charlton Athletic loaned Ebbsfleet United’s white shirts for the game because their away strip clashed with the match officials’ kit.

The Fleet welcome Sutton United to Stonebridge Road in the Vanarama Conference South on Saturday (3pm).
