We are expecting a difficult game at Westside. It’s one that we know we will have to play well if we are to progress to the next round, says Deal Town boss Derek Hares

DEAL TOWN manager Derek Hares says he wants his side to bring more consistency to their game going into Sunday’s FA Vase First Round tie.

Deal Town are looking to continue their FA Vase adventure when they travel to Chessington to take on Westside.

Hares side are in tenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table having collected 15 points from their 10 league outings.

Westside, meanwhile, compete one level lower and go into the game sitting in the top five in the Combined Counties League First Division table, having collected 16 points from 10 games.

“As always, we are expecting a difficult game. It’s one that we know we will have to play well if we are to progress to the next round,” said Hares.

“We go into the game after winning our last two games, although I don’t think that we have played at our best.

“I cannot fault the team’s desire and commitment and I am sure the boys will give exactly the same on Sunday.

“There is nothing better than a run in this competition. Of course, we need to keep performing in the league and picking up points.”

Since coming away from their league rivals Hollands & Blair with a 2-1 win in the last round of The FA Vase, Deal Town have won three of their next four games.

“As I have said before, it’s a very strong league this year and it’s difficult to get points from any game home or away,” added Hares.

“Coach Steve King and I are looking for a little bit more consistency from the team, hopefully that will come over the next few weeks.”
