Dave Cook needs to work hard to recapture the form he showed in his first spell here, says Tim Dixon

Thursday 23rd October 2014
HYTHE TOWN manager Tim Dixon has today unveiled the return of former skipper Dave Cook from Hastings United.

Cook made 232 appearances, scoring 115 goals during his first spell at Reachfields Stadium, captaining the club to the Kent League title, The FA Cup First Round, the Ryman League Division One South play-offs and the club’s first ever Kent Senior Cup success.

Ashford-based Cook goes straight into the squad that heads to the Belmont on Saturday, looking to be the first side to inflict a home league defeat of the season on Whitstable Town.

Jim and Danny Ward’s side suffered a 3-1 home defeat to AFC Sudbury last Saturday.

Cook is not cup-tied for The FA Trophy after not being a member of Hastings United’s squad for their 2-0 defeat at Cray Wanderers last Sunday.

Manager Tim Dixon told www.hythetownfc.co.uk: "We are all pleased to have Dave back at the club as there was interest from a few other clubs for his signature.

“It is very much down to Cookie now, as he needs to work hard and hope to recapture the form he showed in his last spell.

"He has been a fantastic servant for Hythe Town and he loves the club to bits and he has experienced many of the goods times at Hythe.

“He has a great deal to offer with a wealth of experience and we are all looking forward to seeing him turn out for the Cannons again."
