Dartford face Bromley in last sixteen of FA Trophy

Monday 17th December 2012

There will be at least one Kent club in the quarter-finals of The FA Carlsberg Trophy this season after Dartford were drawn at home Bromley in the Third Round.

Dartford, who were finalists back in 1974 when they went down to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat by Morecambe underneath the iconic Twin Towers, will welcome Mark Goldberg’s side to Princes Park for a big Kent derby on 12 January 2013.

Tony Burman’s side defeated Bromley’s Blue Square Bet (Conference) South rivals, Tonbridge Angels 3-0 at the weekend.

Bromley, who defeated Blue Square Bet (Conference) Premier side Kidderminster Harriers at the weekend, courtesy of Danny Waldren’s penalty on the stroke of half-time, have never previously reached the last sixteen before.

Welling United, who have knocked out two Blue Square Bet (Conference) Premier sides, Newport County and Woking, will face a third, Grimsby Town at home, after player-manager Jamie Day’s seventh-minute free-kick saw off nine-man Woking at the weekend.

The Wings reached the quarter-finals in season 2006-07 when they went down to a 4-1 home defeat to two-times winners Grays Athletic.

Ryman League Division One South leaders Maidstone United travel to Halifax Town on Tuesday night to play their Second Round tie, which was postponed on Friday due to a waterlogged pitch.

Jay Saunders’ side will play Blue Square Bet (Conference) South side Chelmsford City at home if they win at The Shay.

Ties to be played on Saturday 12 January 2013
