Dartford appoint Alan Dowson as manager
DARTFORD have appointed Alan Dowson as their new manager.
The National League South club parted company with Steve King on 25 May.
Gateshead born Dowson, 51, finished his playing career at Walton & Hersham before managing the Swans between 2004-2007.
Dowson then spent seven years in charge at Kingstonian before managing Hampton & Richmond Borough and Woking.
In his first season at Woking, the Kingfield club finished in second-place in the National League South and were promoted to the National League after beating a Welling United side managed by King, winning a home promotion play-off final by a single goal.
He was in charge of Woking between 16 May 2018 until 28 February 2022.
A club statement said: “Alan Dowson brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a manager. Dowse will be naming his backroom staff in due course.
“Please join us in welcoming Dowse to Dartford Football Club. We can’t wait to start working with him and his team.”
Dartford finished in fourth-place in the Vanarama National League South table last season and won the Kent Senior Cup for the thirteenth time after beating Isthmian League Premier Division side Folkestone Invicta 6-2 in Chatham in King's final game in charge of the Princes Park club.
