Dartford boss Tony Burman: There’s two teams that are going to end up at Wembley and why can’t it be your club?
DARTFORD manager Tony Burman takes his side to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday with Wembley dreams on his mind.
The Darts have climbed up to fifth-place in the Vanarama National League South table on 35 points from their 18 league games, while Weston-super-Mare are struggling in the bottom three having collected 15 points from their 19 league outings.
The two sides meet each other in The Buildbase FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round and Burman said: “They’ve got a new manager and they’ve had their first win in a number of games last week, which was a good win down at Eastbourne.
“We’ll go there and hopefully we can get through to the next round. That’s going to be the plan and hopefully we can do it.”
Burman is keen to do well in the competition this season.
He said: “They’re all on our list of priorities. The FA Trophy, there’s two teams that are going to end up at Wembley and why can’t it be your club?
“You can say it can get in the way. It can only get in the way if you have so many replay’s and things like that, but if you just win your games on the single match, then so be it.”
Reflecting on their league form that has pushed the club into the play-off zone, Burman said: “We deserve to be where we are. We’ve been very consistent this year with our play and with the results. Hopefully we can stay in and around that position come the end of April.
“We’ve got a tough December that’s for sure. It’s still a long way to go and there’s a lot of issues and hurdles to get over and it’s a real, real difficult time for all the teams.
“We’ll probably get a better idea of things over Christmas and then you’ll plan to get into March and April hopefully in a good vein of form and be up there.”
