Darren Anslow resigns after eight games in charge of Deal Town

DEAL TOWN have confirmed that Darren Anslow has resigned as their manager after only eight games in charge of the club.

The club are presently sitting at the foot of the Southern Counties East Football League table having lost all four of their league games.

Deal Town were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Phoenix Sports in The FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round against Phoenix Sports, before winning the replay 8-7 on penalties after the game finished 3-3 after extra time.

But the club were knocked out of The FA Cup away to Chessington & Hook United last night, going down to a last-minute goal in a 2-1 defeat, after drawing 1-1 at the Charles Sports Ground.

Chairman Derek Hares told the club’s website: “The board of directors of Deal Town FC have today accepted the resignation of first team manager Darren Anslow.

“The board would would like to thank Darren for all his hard work during his time at the club.

“A new manager will not be appointed at this time while the board re-assesses the situation.

“The management of the first and reserve teams in the interim period will be covered by myself, Dave Johncock, Paul Egan and Darren Hales.

“I hope the club’s supporters will get behind the first and reserve teams and give them the support they need.”

Deal Town’s next game is away to Epsom Athletic in The FA Vase First Qualifying Round on Saturday.
