Damian Abel left under a bit of a cloud, admits Whitstable Town boss Justin Luchford

WHITSTABLE TOWN boss Justin Luchford says the returning Damian Abel has a point to prove after re-joining the club today.

Luchford admitted the striker left Belmont Road under a cloud earlier in the year but will form a potent strike force with Stuart Vahid and Ian Pulman, who rejoined the club after spells with Blue Square Bet South Eastbourne Borough and their Ryman League Division One South rivals Ramsgate last season.

“I am delighted to announce that I have now concluded the re-signing of Damian Abel,” Luchford told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.

“Damian left under a bit of a cloud last season, but apologised to all at the club immediately afterwards.

“Damian is a quality player and one I have managed for over four seasons now.

“Last season didn’t go very well for him.  He didn’t play where he wanted to at Faversham and there was a lot of chopping and changing there, but then moved to us and him and Stuart (Vahid) were flying for a few games before we picked up all the injuries.

“It was a tough time and in the end it was just one thing after another for him.

“I said we would speak in the summer and we have and I am now pleased to say he is back on board.  Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully he will learn by that one.

“He feels he has a point to prove now and is chomping at the bit to get back involved.

“With Damian, Pully and Stuart, I now believe we have one of the most potent strike forces in the league.

“It will provide competition for places, but it gives us plenty of options and really takes the pressure off of all of them as if one isn’t scoring the other one will be.

“They are all going to be involved in pretty much all the games and I for one am very excited about seeing them all playing for the club.”
