Daish unveils Barrett signing
Ebbsfleet United boss Liam Daish has swooped to bring midfielder Neil Barrett, 25, to Stonebridge Road.
Like their other new signing, defender Gary MacDonald, Barrett joins the Fleet after appearing for Woking in the Conference last season.
Barrett was born in Tooting, and started his career with Chelsea alongside the Fleet’s Danny Slatter and England skipper John Terry.
He moved on to Portsmouth in 2001, where he made 23 appearances, then went on loan to Dundee in January 2004 before joining them permanently.
After a spell with Livingstone he moved south to join Exeter City and arrived at Kingfield in January this year.
Daish told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk: "Neil made a big impact during his time at Woking.
"Glenn Cockerill rated him very highly, and Frank Gray wanted him to go back for pre-season this summer, so we have done well to bring him to the club.
"He will bring a physical presence to our midfield and is capable of getting his name on the scoresheet."
