Daish: Keeling will add a dimension to our play

Thursday 22nd June 2006
Gravesend & Northfleet manager Liam Daish has added more experience to his squad by signing former Canvey Island forward John Keeling.

The 30-year-old joined the Fleet’s arch rivals in 2004 from Hornchurch, and as well as previously playing for Tilbury and Thurrock, also appeared for the England National XI against Belgium in 2003.

Daish told www.gnfc.co.uk“John’s an exciting player.  He can play in midfield or attack and will add a dimension to our play which has been missing.”

Meanwhile, as Fleet supporters wait for next season’s fixtures to be announced, the Nationwide Conference has advised clubs that due to a number of logistical difficulties, Christmas and New Year fixtures could take on a new look.

The Conference has told clubs that, due to a number of key factors, most of which are beyond their control, it will not be possible to provide reverse fixtures on Boxing Day (26th December 2006) and New Years Day (1 January 2007).

They are attempting to meet as many club home preferences as possible on either 26 & 30 December 2006 or 1 January 2007.

Fixtures over this period will still be local but are unlikely to be with the first choice requested on the forms returned this season.

Conference National fixtures are currently scheduled for distribution during the first week of July.

Ryman League fixtures will be published "around" Thursday 13th July and the last league to publish their fixtures tend to be the Kent League.
