Daish down to bare bones for Morecambe trip - EXCLUSIVE

Thursday 20th April 2006
Gravesend & Northfleet boss Liam Daish admits his down to the “bare bones” for Saturday’s trip to Morecambe, writes Stephen McCartney.

With his side currently 14th place in the Nationwide Conference, Daish is hit with injuries to several players as Morecambe look to cement their play-off place with a win over the Kent side.

But with Paul McCarthy suspended for the rest of the season, Jimmy Jackson is out with a combination of a knee and hamstring injury.

Top-scorer Charlie MacDonald, meanwhile, is unlikely to play again this season as he cannot shake off his hamstring injury.

Another striker, Mark Rawle (hamstring), Robert Wakins (thigh), Jay Saunders (back) and Peter Hawkins (personal issues), means Daish is suffering with a big selection headache.

”We are down to the bare bones again and it’s hurting us again but we’ll get through it,” Daish said this morning.

Looking ahead to their long trip, he said: “Very tough.  Their a good side at home, amongst the play-offs, and we have to go up there and be nice and strong.

”Hopefully we can get chances and put them away – but they will be tough up there.”
