Cugley: Let's do ourselves justice and knock out Rams
FOLKESTONE INVICTA boss Neil Cugley has three key players missing for their FA Cup first qualifying round showdown with Ramsgate, writes Stephen McCartney.
Lee Spiller (foot), Jimmy Corbett (tendonitis) and Lee Wilkins (recovering from his cartlidge operation) have all been ruled out for the clash against Jim Ward’s men.
“Ramsgate are a tough side to beat, organised, physically strong and you’ve got to match them - hopefully we will,” Cugley told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“We know what players they’ve got. I’m looking forward to it, the pitch is nice and there will be a few people here and hopefully we can do ourselves justice.”
For wing-back Mark Green, he knows Folkestone Invicta must take advantage of home comforts if they’re to defeat a side that play one division higher than they do.
Invicta are currently riding high in the Ryman League Division One South with a record of four wins and a draw from their six games and only have Walton & Hersham and Kingstonian above in the table.
Ramsgate are currently in the bottom eight in the Ryman Premier League with two wins and three draws from eight games.
“It will be a big test and they’re no mugs either, they’re a strong side,” Green told www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk.
“We’ve got a good chance and we go in as underdogs as they’re a league higher.
“But it’s a chance to prove that we’ve got a decent side and I can’t see us getting stuffed.
“Cugs knows how they play and they’re all six-foot-six, they’re big boys and it’s going to be a battle out there.”
“We’ve got to show what we’re about from the start and we’re at home. We’ll have the crowd behind us and I can’t see why we can’t have a good go and get a result.
“Everyone likes a good Cup run and it’s a break from the league and the big teams start coming in if you get through.”
