Crown Alexndra pull out of Kent Invicta League

Wednesday 12th December 2012
CROWN ALEXANDRA have today withdrawn from the Kent Invicta League after only fourteen league games into the season.

Chairman Michael Day published the contents of his letter to League administrator John Moules on the Kent League Forum.

“After a lengthy management meeting last night and taking all revenues and options into account we hereby formally withdraw Crown Alexandra Football Club’s membership of the Kent Invicta League with immediate effect.

“At this time we will make no further comment due to advice being sought and also as I do not wish to prejudice the lines of grievance we intend to pursue with the relevant football authorities.”

In a conversation with well-wishers, Mr Day added: “I am personally very sorry to all of the clubs who continue to be a part of the league but we have been left with no other choice.

“Since the previous meetings we have been given no advice, guidance or help of any sort and this has been the most difficult football decision I have had to make.

“I thank those of you who have shown your support to our cause and appreciate that and will take that into our next venture when and whatever that may be.”

The Kent Invicta League postponed the club’s home game against Lewisham Borough last weekend and the club’s withdrawal from the League was the most inevitable outcome.

Results against Crown Alexandra will be wiped and the league table will be adjusted accordingly.

Crown Alexandra won two and drawn three of their thirteen league games and only had Meridian below them in the table.

The club were playing in fourth tier of the South London Alliance last season, finishing in eighth-place of eleven sides, but they secured a place in the football pyramid structure after winning an appeal – but the club have struggled both and off the pitch this season.

Problems at their ground at Leigh Academy Ground, which is a stone’s throw away from Dartford’s Princes Park Stadium, have been ongoing and these problems have forced the club to admit defeat.

Milton & Fulston United manager Aaron Perry said last week (visit link below) that his club will apply for admittance into the Kent Invicta League next season now that they have agreed a groundshare deal at Bourne Park, the home of Ryman League Division One South Sittingbourne.

Milton & Fulston United ply their trade in the Haart of Kent County League Division One – in old money two levels underneath the Kent Invicta League – and climbed into fourth place in the table, two points behind leaders Bexlians, with a game in hand, following their 5-1 win at Kennington last weekend.

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic (Community) FC say they will consider an application to join the Kent Invicta League next season.

Charlton Athletic Community FC was set up in 2007 through the award winning Community Trust and played Kent County League football between 2007-12.

Darren Phillips, who managed the side last season, now manages Chatham Town’s reserve side.
