Crowborough Athletic defender Chris Ransome becomes club's shirt sponsor

A long-serving footballer at Crowborough Athletic has broken new ground by becoming the club’s new main shirt sponsor.

Full-back Chris Ransome has played for his home-town club for fifteen years and will sponsor the club ahead of their inaugural Southern Counties East Football League campaign, which kicks off on 9 August.

Ransome is the owner and director of his own garden design firm and the club sees this as an “exciting prospect that we’ll have one of our local players supporting the club in such an active and vital way.”

The club added: “The club believe this is a unique sponsorship in its history and look forward to working with Ransome Garden Design to further enhance their excellent reputation and to increase the awareness of our club to an even greater extent within the surrounding areas.”

Tony Bowen, the club’s chairman, told his club website: “Chris Ransome has been a player with the club from youth football and was an integral part of the first team squad last season and we are delighted he is keen to put something back into the club he has been with, and played for, over many years.”

Ransome added: “The opportunity to sponsor a club so close to my heart was too good to turn down.  I have blue blood cursing through my veins after all.

“I’ve been playing at Crowborough Athletic FC for 15 years and will finish my playing career here and hopefully, one day, go on to manage the first team.

“It’s a great honour to have my company as the main sponsor and I intend to keep it that way for many years to come.”

Ransome, who made 44 appearances for the club’s first team last season, is a valuable player for the East Sussex club.

“With great levels of fitness, combined with a passion and will to win, Rans’ experience and strong vocal presence on the pitch has proven invaluable in this young Crows squad.”
